Welcome to MACSEM, a member chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM). Founded in 1955, SEM promotes the research, study, and performance of music in its cultural, social, and political contexts.  MACSEM was established in 1981 and includes members from the states of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia.

The next annual meeting will take place on March 30 - April 1, 2012 at the College of William and Mary.
